Phil Mickelson was dominated by Augusta throughout the 2013 Masters, time. Just read the total leaderboard thanks to PGA.com. Expect this difficult trip to carry on through the rest of the summer season. Though he hit 71 in the initial round, Mickelson's play at that time was anything but impressive: four bogeys, which carried over into Rounds 2 and 3. There, Mickelson's shockingly porous exhibit worsened with a 76 and 77. In this stretch of 36 holes, he stroked three double-bogeys, as well as eight bogeys, and found his position at plus-eight entering the last round. Yikes. He managed merely a 73 in Round 4, which set Mickelson at plus-nine for the event. At the same time, Mickelson owned around his lack of consistency and overall performance within an article by Barry Svrluga of the Washington PostAon Saturday: aI just enjoyed terrible,a Mickelson said. aThereas no way around it. Iam just not hitting very good golf shots, missing it in bad places and not really knowing which part Iam going to miss it on. Therefore my play has been beyond terrible, and thatas certainly disappointing.a aI donat know whatas planning on,a Mickelson said. abut Iave been experiencing my ball-striking. .a.a. It doesnat feel great. The ball-striking, I simply donat know where itas going to go.a Simply speaking, the inability to regulate the ball and his swing enjoyed an enormous role. And although Masters is certainly one of golf's premier activities, its difficulty hasn't affected Mickelson throughout his career: He won it in 2004, 2006 and 2010. Augusta has definitely been one of his best events on the tour, and failing in 2013 does not bode well for the remainder of the period. Mickelson never won the U.S. Open or Open Championship, and the PGA Championship has given dilemmas to him of new as well: He is placed outside of the top 10 days gone by 36 months. Mickelson also set a pill on his performance, asAChris Gay of theAAugusta ChronicleAtweeted: For his sake, let us hope Mickelson finds a method to adjust accordingly. That said, getting out of this ditch is likely to be much tougher against he that has been worked by major courses better than Augusta.
