Internet sites picked, choice committee next for playoff

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) a' Now that the men piecing together the College Football Playoff have identified where the activities may be played, there is only one main item left on the plan a' and it may just function as most critical item. Who's planning to find the teams that play for the national champion and how can they go about it? "It is huge," Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott said Wednesday. "Major change planning from the BCS standing to a range committee." Scott and the other BCS convention commissioners ended Day 2 of their meetings at the house of the Rose Bowl by asserting that Cowboys Stadium will host the first title game in the new postseason program, and that the Cotton Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Chick-fil-A plates will be part of the six-game semifinal rotation. Arlington, Texas, surrounded Tampa, Fla., in the bidding to be the site of the first title game in the playoff system that'll replace the Bowl Championship Series. "We couldn't become more stoked up about getting university football's largest sport to Cowboys Stadium," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. "Rest guaranteed, we all promise to do everything we could to make sure this game meets everybody's highest expectations." The Rose, Orange (Miami) and Sugar (New Orleans) plates were already part of the semifinal turn. The Rose and Sugar can host Jan to the initial semifinals. 1, 2015. The following time, the Cotton (Arlington) and Orange plates will host the semifinals on New Year's Eve. The semis will undoubtedly be played at the Fiesta (Glendale, Ariz.) and Chick-fil-A (Atlanta) following the 2016 year. In the years the bowls don't host a national semifinal they'll stage an important, BCS-type game played on New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. That means two days of huge school football triple-headers. What teams will perform in these games will be up to the still to be established selection committee. BCS government director Bill Hancock said the selection board has been much discussed during the last two days and is a matter again on Thursday ahead of the commissioners head home. But nothing has been resolved. "We had a conversation (Wednesday), we'll have a conversation (Thursday )," Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive said. "But we are a considerable ways... You've to consider structure, figures, people, standards, approach. There is a lot to it." The idea is for the committee to possess 15 or 20 members, and for it to check something like the committee that chooses the subject for the NCAA basketball tournament. That selection board is comprised of athletic directors and conference commissioners and picks 68 groups. The commissioners are looking at having both current and former administrators on the panel, since the examination on this cell will soon be significantly greater. Any appearance of error is likely to be hard to over come with the levels therefore high. "Transparency is something which is very important to us," Slive said. The commissioners may also be considering what measurements and instructions the panel will get to differentiate between the leading teams, and whether the screen will produce ranks regularly throughout the period. "To be decided," Scott believed to most questions concerning the selection committee. "We have time on our side," Slive said. Hancock said he hoped a cell might be in position by this fall, so they really had be ready to go work when the 2014 year begins. Com Follow Ralph N. Russo at www.Twitter.com/ralphDrussoAP
