A report out of the Bolton News suggests that the manager has found his Marcos Alonso replacement in 27-year-old Norwich City defender Marc Tierney. Per the same report, it seems that Tierney has already agreed terms with Bolton Wanderers and will officially sign on when his contract expires.

The 27-year-old left-footed left back had played for Oldham Athletic, Shrewsbury Town, and Colchester United before signing for Norwich City in January, 2011. At that point, the Canaries were a Championship side, having been promoted from League One the year before, well on their way to finishing runners up in the division and an eventual Premier League spot.

Over the last two-and-a-half seasons, Tierney made 39 appearances for the Canaries in all competitions but was largely on the outside looking in during the now-finished 2012/13 campaign. He managed only one league appearance, four League Cup appearances, and one FA Cup appearance over the season. In 2011/12, he had established himself as Norwich's first-choice left back but a severe groin injury (and subsequent surgery) curtailed his progress in the team and, following a nine-month-long layoff, he found himself second choice to Javier Garido.
