Castilla picks up a brilliant win against Recreativo - Real Madrid

Castilla picks up three well-deserved and hard-earned points on their visit to Recreativo for La Liga Adelante's 34th matchday. A squad that was solid on defence and powerful on the attack picked up their fourth away win this season against the Andalusian side. Goals from Mateos, Jese and Plano in the second half keep Toril's men out of the drop zone and alive in the middle of the classification with 44 points.

Castilla faced off against Recreativo with every intention of picking up three important points. The clash began with both sides looking to dominate the game. The first warning shot came from the Whites with an off-target long-distance shot in min. 10. The game relaxed until min. 31, when Alexander tested Mejias' reflexes with a shot from inside the area that was picked up by the Whites' goalkeeper. The play was a wakeup call for the visitors, who could have pushed ahead with a goal in min. 33 with a rebound from Jese from inside the area that was saved by Cabrero. The teams went into the half with the score at 0-0 and everything left to be decided.

Things took a drastic turn after the restart. Mateos put the Whites ahead just a minute into play off a corner by Borja that the Real defender headed into the goal (min. 46). The advantage gave wings to Toril's men, who turned the match around in search of a better lead. Borja made an attempt in min. 49 with a shot that grazed the crossbar. Teammate Jese didn't miss the next chance. A brilliant lay off by Cheryshev gave the Canarian striker the chance for a bullseye in the top right corner of Recreativo's goal, where Cabrero was unable to react. Minute 32, 0-2 and a win on the way for the Whites.

The local squad, far from throwing in the towel, looked for ways to close the gap. Chuli could have brought his team closer in min. 65 with a low shot that Mejias was able to stop without difficulty. An injured Mejias had to abandon the pitch after this play and was substituted by Andres Prieto. The goalkeeper, who debuted with Castilla tonight, was quickly put to the test with a shot by Jesus that Prieto was able to block (min. 74).

Meanwhile, the visitors continued to focus on increasing their lead. Jesse and Borja came close with two consecutive shots in min. 77, but the local goalkeeper blocked both attempts. And the closer the Whites got to the 0-3 the more Recre closed the gap. A deep pass by Matamala for Brozek, who took advantage of Prieto's open position, put 1-2 on the scoreboard (min. 79). Four minutes later the locals were a man down after Morcillo was ordered off the pitch. The game had changed for Toril's men, who continued to seek the 1-3 to secure the win. And that's what they did. Oscar Plano gave the team a dose of calm by netting Castilla's third goal of the night in min. 85 with a left-footed shot in front of the area. Time had run out for more and the Whites picked up their fourth away win this season.
